Growing Your Own Oyster Mushrooms at Home – Video – Gardening Rhythms.
Put a mushroom ‘stalk’ in a brown paper bag, inside a tupperware container for 2 months in your fridge? I don’t know about that.
I suppose it could work. The reason it takes so long, I suppose, is the coldness of the fridge.
Huh, I’ll have to ask my brother, Ray from the Oakland Mushroom Maestros, about this.
Regardless, the Gardening Rhythms site is pretty cool. Here is a link to the Mushroom Biology section of the site.
It works very well for me. This is how I keep my seed stock for cultivating more mushrooms. The cool temperature allows the fungi to go, but slows down bacteria from taking over. Remember, certain type of mushrooms each wood/paper. Others eat compost and sugers from trees.
oh! Thanks for commenting on the Healthy Mushroom Blog, Paul! That makes sense about the cool temps and the bacteria – just like with other stuff you put in the fridge. I’m looking forward to trying it out and getting to know your blog more. Great information there.
